|

Since Saturday 2nd April, members of the Chadwick family have taken on the additional role of 'car parking attendants'. This is in line with our policy of never employing anyone to do a job that we wouldn't be prepared to do. Also, it has given us valuable, first-hand experience of the problems that our customers have faced when finding spaces to park.
To date (Wednesday 1st June), over 14,500 vehicles have parked on our car parks. We have received 141 objections, mostly from people who have always misused these facilities in the past, and who see no reason why they should show any consideration to other customers.
Those customers (the vast majority) who have always moved their cars before going elsewhere are thrilled that we have finally taken action to address the problem. They can now drive to our shop or restaurant knowing that when they arrive, they will have a space in which to safely leave their vehicles.
On Saturday 20th May, several people approached members of the Chadwick family and claimed to know that the business was losing money (UTTER NONSENSE) and advised us (!!) to stop manning the car park. Interestingly, it is these very people who have always used our car parking facilities to go and shop elsewhere.
In fact, patrolling our car parks has allowed us to welcome back around 300 customers a week from across the North West who had stopped coming because they could not park.
Furthermore, we are now able to offer employment, full and part-time, to even more local people. For more information about vacancies available, please click here.
We know that Standish is short of car parking spaces. We are also aware that the building of homes in Standish is generating healthy revenues for Wigan MBC.
Our recent application to extend our car parking facilities for the benefit of Noel Chadwick Ltd and other local businesses was refused by both Wigan MBC and the appeal committee. However, the appeal committee acknowledged that there was a shortage of car parking spaces in Standish!
Given that the building of more homes is generating additional revenues for Wigan MBC, and will hopefully bring more customers into the centre of Standish, we would like to propose the following.
We Noel Chadwick Ltd will provide our field to be developed into a car park for the benefit of the village. The cost of development, however, must be borne by Wigan MBC and the other Standish businesses. |

| with reference to you claim that you have welcome back over 300 customers who could not park before is rubbish, the car park is huge and 99% empty due to you arrogant bullying tactics you employ, the only reason you are being pedantic about parking is because you were refused a pay and display carpark from which only you would benefit from, you are money hungry, greedy, selfish and most disliked family in standish. you should all follow in the footsteps of james chadwick and go to Africa and stay there. And now you have been a bully with customers your carpark is always empty as is you cafe/restaurant i pass it daily and i am pleased to see it suffering, and one more thing, you said in an article you could "pay better wages" from not allowing people from using your facilities how many staff have had a payrise, the one's that i have spoken to have had no increase. I REPEAT YOU ARE MONEY HUNGRY ,GREEDY ARROGANT ,SELFISH BULLIES AND YOU KNOW IT. |

Iain,
Thank you for taking the time to post your opinion on this forum.
The car park is not huge as you claim, we have less than 50 spaces.
We do not use arrogant bullying tactics to monitor our car park.
The only people that have been politely approached are those people that chose to display a lack of respect and consideration for others.
You may wish to consider the following:
It is those people who want to treat our private car park as a public car park that have been verbally abusive.
It is those people who want to treat our private car park as a public car park that have behaved aggressively.
It is those people who want to treat our private car park as a public car park that have threatened physical violence.
It is those people who want to treat our private car park as a public car park that have sent "poison pen" letters anonymously.
It is those people who want to treat our private car park as a public car park that have sent offensive emails such as one received earlier today which expressed hope that all the Chadwick scum would die a horrible death.
It is those people who want to treat our private car park as a public car park that have made malicious phone calls which are now being investigated by the police.
Not once have we sworn, threatened physical violence, sent poison pen letters, sent offensive emails, nor expressed the hope that certain individuals would die a horrible death nor have we made malicious phone calls.
Do you still think that we are bullies?
As we were prepared to invest £300,000 in providing public car park spaces, it is obvious that it would have taken a very, very long time for us to recoup just the original cost let alone the costs involved in maintaining it.
It is a sad reflection on today's society that those people who are prepared to work hard for their success become targets for others who resent this success.
The only times the car park is empty is when we are closed likewise with the restaurant.
We are sorry to disappoint you but we are not suffering.
If we were money hungry, greedy, arrogant, selfish bullies we would have accepted one of the multi-million pound offers which have been made to us.
Why have we refused them all?
Accepting one of these offers would have put 47 local people out of work and caused hardship for them and their families.
Hardly the attitude you would expect from a family of money hungry, greedy, arrogant, selfish bullies.
Whilst you are entitled to your views, why not take a little time to get to know the people you are abusing rather than forming an opinion based on what others say?
We look forward to meeting you.
The Chadwick Family.

Iain, its the easiest thing in the world to post spiteful, jealous comments behind a cloak of anonymity.
Before (if) you post next time, why not have the courage to register as a user first supplying your full name and email address? This at least gives the Chadwick Family the opportunity to respond to you personally with the TRUE FACTS (i.e. information not based on village gossip or whats been written in the newspapers). |

"Iain",
I was responding to your comment about the wages when you posted your reply.
There is a well known saying that you should not believe everything you read in the papers.
My comment about wages related to the share of the profits each member of staff receives at the end of the year.
The newspaper article did not mention a pay rise - you have chosen to interpret it this way.
All members of staff are paid over the National Minumum Wage Rate.
As to your claim that you were employed by us so you know what we are all like, if you will not provide your real name I cannot comment other than to say that your previous post proves that you have no knowledge of what we are all like!
I notice that you didn't comment on the post made by Pete and have the courage to register as a user first. Why?
I notice that you didn't comment on the post made by Rebecca either. Why?
Hope my response answers your concerns and that you will take the time to think about the posts made by others in reply to your original comments.
